Call for Papers:
The Jean Monnet Center of New York University School of Law, I·CON – The International Journal of Constitutional Law, and the Department of Constitutional Law of the Jagiellonian University, are pleased to announce a Project on the Changing Landscape of Polish Public Law (Constitutional, Administrative and European). The aim of the project is to present to a broader audience the most innovative recent contributions of Polish scholarship in Public Law. Similar projects have been conducted in respect of German, Italian, British, Asian, and other jurisdictions.
Selection of papers is intended to be done on the basis of merit, not status. Thus, the two Centers are launching a call for papers in Public Law studies. The call is open to all scholars working at universities and other research institutions in Poland. The papers should be written in English and deal with general problems of contemporary public law. Contributions focusing on Polish public law should be of a theoretical nature and of interest to an audience beyond Poland. Polish scholarship on the European Union would also be welcome especially if making an original contribution conditioned by the Polish context.
The selection committee will select up to twelve papers which distinguish themselves by:
– in-depth presentation of new phenomena of contemporary constitutionalism;
– relevance for constitutional studies worldwide;
– innovative approach;
– methodological excellence.
The scholars wishing to participate in the project are kindly requested to send an abstract of their contribution by September 3rd, 2012 toJeanmonnet@nyu.edu
The length of the abstract should be circa 1000 words. The author should add a short section explaining the innovative features of the project.
The selection committee will notify by December 1st, 2012 those scholars whose abstracts have been selected and whose authors will be invited to the “Changing Landscape Workshop” in Fall 2013. Participants will receive a subsidy for their travel and hotel expenses in the amount of circa Euro 1000.
The selected authors should submit their first drafts by May 1st, 2013. The first drafts should be around 5000 words in English. Following the workshop, authors will be asked to revise and expand their draft to a fully-fledged paper of between 10,000 to 15,000 words including footnotes. These papers will be Peer Reviewed following which there will be a special series of the Jean Monnet Working Papers. http://centers.law.nyu.edu/jeanmonnet/
I·CON, The International Journal of Constitutional Law, intends to publish the best contributions in a special issue on Polish Public Law Scholarship. After the symposium the Selection Committee will establish a list of up to six contributions it will recommend for publication in the International Journal of Constitutional Law.
