What’s Going on In Germany – A Panel Discussion with Q&A

What’s going on in France or Spain or Italy or Poland and the list goes on. It is clear that the European political (and electoral) scene is in turmoil — not least in the large EU Member States. We chose Germany not only because it is still (for how long?) the economically most consequential Member State of the European Union. But also because the NYU Jean Monnet Center is fortunate to host this year three Senior Fellows, Professors Johanna Hey, Peter Huber and Silvia von Steinsdorff, who have kindly agreed to share their insights on recent election outcomes, their economic and societal reasons and possible political consequences. Special attention will also be paid to legal (and political) options for dealing with the far-right AfD.

Moderator: J.H.H. Weiler, University Professor, Director, Jean Monnet Center

When: Tuesday 10 November 2026 at 12:00 p.m.
