How to Cite the Papers

Jean Monnet papers on the Web should be cited as:

  • Author, Title, Jean Monnet Working Paper no. / year and URL of the main page of the paper, i.e. the page to which one gets connected when choosing a specific paper from the annual list ( 2003, 2004, 2005 etc.) of JM papers.
  • If a specific part of the text needs to be referenced, the URL of the relevant file can be used instead of a page number. Once a paper is uploaded, we do not change filenames. URLs are therefore reliable references.

Please Note: In 2001, Harvard Jean Monnet Working Papers were renamed Jean Monnet Working Papers. Please cite the papers posted after 2001 accordingly.

Example:

A specific part of the text could be cited as:
“However, the range of questions arising in relation to the role of different levels of government and of the various institutions, actors and tiers of political authority go well beyond what is expressed in the various legal formulations of subsidiarity in the EU treaties.” Grainne de Burca, Reappraising Subsidiarity’s Significance after Amsterdam, Harvard Jean Monnet Working Paper No.7/99,http://www.jeanmonnetprogram.org/papers/99/990705.html
